Alan John
Senior Instructor
- Alan John is a nationally recognized trainer in both law enforcement and private security services in a multitude of topics including leadership, and active shooter mitigation techniques. He has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) and a graduate level certificate in law enforcement Leadership and Management from the FBI National Academy. Mr. John has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a focus on training local law enforcement. He has over 25 years of Law Enforcement Experience with 17 years in leadership positions. Mr. John has experience in policing in the complex and multicultural environments of California and understand the challenges of rural policing in the harsh conditions of Wyoming. He has served in a variety of command leadership positions including Patrol, Detectives, Administration, Training, and Special Events.
- Mr. John holds adjunct teaching positions at two universities, including Utica College in New York. There he is an adjunct professor in a master’s degree capstone course on cybersecurity where he guides and mentors’ students through their thesis project. He also is an assistant instructor at Strayer University teaching business courses in their bachelor’s level program. At Strayer, he is part of a small cutting-edge team of instructors identified as the 10X group that provide a responsive and individual learning experience to over 1,000 students each quarter. Mr. John has developed customized training for Fortune 100 companies in active shooter response, threat assessment, and medical response to active shooter events. These courses have been accredited by the respective state’s POST commissions. As a practitioner in public safety, Mr. John has been awarded the Medal of Valor, Distinguished Service Award, Nationally recognized as an Instructor of the Year and over 100 commendations for service.
- Mr. John is qualified to certify as a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) peace officer and holds or has held instructor ratings in Nationally and individually in Wyoming, Michigan, Montana, Utah, Virginia, Puerto Rico, and Georgia. He has trained law enforcement at the Department of Defense and managed the training of Mexican Police through the Department of State (DOS INL) He has held certifications at the EMT (paramedic) level with Drug Abuse Recognition (DAR) instructor certification. Mr. John is an ALERRT level 1 & 2 instructor.
