Daniel Florent
Senior Instructor

  • Mr. Florent has 33 years of law enforcement experience.  He joined the Federal Air Marshal Service in May 2002.  As a strategic leader, he also held collateral duties as the Supervisor of Professional Accountability, Supervisor of the Diversity Program, Supervisor of Regional Liaison, Public Information Officer, and Supervisory Field Intelligence Officer for the Boston Field Office.
  • A third-generation law enforcement officer, he began his career as a local police officer in Hampton, NH. In 1996, Mr. Florent accepted an appointment as a Criminal Investigator with the United States Marshals Service in New York and worked numerous assignments in Judicial Protection, fugitive operations and the Witness Security Program.  Mr. Florent also broke new ground by writing for and appearing as host in a weekly television segment entitled, New Hampshire’s Most Wanted which profiled dangerous fugitives.
    During his career with the Federal Air Marshal Service, Mr. Florent was assigned to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force. Within this assignment, he was a designated Airport Liaison Agent and responsible for, not only strengthening ties within the aviation community, but taking the lead in aviation related incidents spanning both realms of domestic and international terrorism.  Later in 2008, Mr. Florent was selected to be part of the FAMS Middle Eastern Deployment Teams and was placed in the US Embassy in Amman, Jordan.  He has also performed international agency assessments in Germany and Spain. In June of 2010, Mr. Florent assumed the position of TSA’s Director of Law Enforcement, responsible for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  In this role, he completed threat assessments, MANPADS evaluations and produced subsequent mitigation strategies.  As the supervisor of the Liaison Unit, Mr. Florent established collaborative ties with other law enforcement agencies, as well as the private sector.
  • Mr. Florent also holds a Masters Degree in the field of Security Studies from the Center for Homeland Defense and Security based within the United States Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration.
