Bob Schapiro

  • Bob Schapiro is a journalist, historian and filmmaker whose current China documentary won an Emmy Award in New York City, where he has written and produced newscasts for WCBS, INN and WNBC.  He also reported from El Salvador, Nicaragua, Ethiopia and Lebanon and, more recently, Afghanistan.  
  • Bob wrote and directed the documentaries Pirates of New York with Walter Cronkite and Geisha, Keisha and American Pie.  His varied career includes:

    • Writing and directing four of the all-time top ten infomercials and numerous direct-response commercials.

    • Writing sketches for the off-Broadway revue Style Without Substance.  

    • Co-authoring On the Origins of Propaganda: Bio-Evolutionary Perspectives on Social Cohesion, published by Routledge in 2015 as part of the book, Neuroscience and Media.

    • Teaching courses at several universities, including NYU, Columbia, Fordham and CAFA in Beijing, China.

  • In addition, Bob worked as an EMT for 7-years.  His volunteer activities include serving as president of the Society of Professional Journalists (NJ) for 2014-2015.
