Ammara Kimso
Educational Specialist
- Ammara Kimso is currently serving as the Education Specialist as part of the Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) Fellowship, which is a national workforce initiative within the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation in Washington D.C. HOH supports veterans, transitioning service members, and career-minded military spouses to find meaningful employment opportunities.
- Ammara has worked in both non-profit and higher education institutions for over 10 years. She has developed and coordinated numerous museum education programs and events for K-12 students. She is experienced in leading and facilitating professional development programs for education professionals, community stakeholders and students.
- Ammara’s areas of expertise focuses on cultural competency professional development trainings and curriculum development; diversity and inclusion federal policy initiatives; and college student development and leadership. She has served on a variety of leadership committees for numerous non-profits in Seattle, and currently serves as a Co-Lead for the Military Spouse Professional Network in Maryland. Ammara recently worked at a D.C. IT services and cybersecurity firm, where she managed the headquarters office.
- Ammara earned her Bachelor of Arts in American Ethnic Studies, and a Master of Education in Higher Education and Policy Studies from the University of Washington in Seattle.
